Family Photo Session Preparation Tips!
Embrace the chaos and let your kids run the show.
It is my desire to create photographs that do more than serve as proof that you existed, I want to show that you lived passionately and loved madly. Therefore expectation setting is key. If you’re looking for those unposed and carefree photos, communicating your vision is absolutely crucial.
Documenting your family authentically has not much to do with sitting still and smiling at the camera. You should expect to fully be in the moment during your photo session - basically as if I wasn't there. So instead of fearing that your children won’t “behave” or getting frustrated if they wanna do their own thing, I challenge you to just let go and embrace it.
🧡 Make your photo session the big event for the day.
🧡 Choose a location that allows room to explore and run around
🧡 Shy snuggles or wild play – your kid’s mood will lead the way
🧡 Hungry kids can get fuzzy and grumpy - make sure they’ve eaten before
🧡 Tired kids also won’t be feeling a photo session – make sure they get a good nap or schedule your session time accordingly.
🧡 Get ready to be moving around A LOT. Playing, snuggling, running, dancing – doing all the things your kids love the most.
🧡 Know that your kiddos can’t do any wrong during your session – we’re going for emotions, which includes ALL of it, not only the smiles.
🧡 Embrace the moment, no matter how wild or quiet. Let go and just be present.
🧡 And did I mention to JUST LET GO?! If you get frustrated, the mood will catch on to your kids.
All of this will result in perfectly imperfect photos that are a true representation of your current stage of life, which you’ll want to remember 20 years from now
